Wooo Weee!!! What an incredible experience at the Spring 2015 Desert Hearts. DH is a bi-annual festival in Southern California. It takes place on the beautiful Los Coyotes Indian Reservation in San Diego and is referred to as the best and fastest growing boutique festival in the US. What makes Desert Hearts so special is not only what they represent... House, Techno, and Love but the community that it helps to create.
This time around I got to play a significant roll in the DH community through the Bright People theme camp. I am basically the co-founder of Bright People and together with my partner Jamie MeowieWowie, we were able to raise $1300 in just 2 weeks through Indiegogo! The money that we raised went directly into funding our camp. Our Yum Yum Kitchen provided free coffee in the morning, grilled cheesies if you pleasies in the afternoon, and asian dishes for dinner. We also had our Trippy Thread Exchange where one hippies trash is another hippies treasure. That was a huge success, it was so awesome seeing others sport old festy outfits on the dance floor. Who doesn't want to shop for free in the closet of other festival goers. Not only is recycling doing the earth good, it was doing our pockets good too! I got the most incredible tie-dye shaw, a beautiful fur coat, and an amazing original art piece!!! Now that's some shiz!

Bright People also had the pleasure of collaborating with several artist that really added to the awesomeness of our camp. The artist we joined forces with were OnStarr aka Anh Pham, Grinzy AllVinyl, Agapito and Kate. Collaborations with Drew and his Electric Buddha Bar and the Blankspaces team with their awesome crystal lit shade structure and flower of life shrine, added the perfect amount of yumminess. All of these collaborations played a significant roll in the success of the BP theme camp. What really made Bright People so awesome was the community. It was so amazing waking up to our incredible friends laughing, singing, sharing, and playing a part in being a Bright Person and letting their light shine.

So the story doesn't end there.... I also had the pleasure of meeting some of the core players in Desert Hearts. This was a pretty big deal because I have mad respect for what they have accomplished. Our Bright People camp was just a small part in the magic that was happening during that weekend of self transformation.

On a quest to the box office Jamie and I were rescued 2 miles into our 3 mile walk (which we were told was only a quarter mile away) by Andy Crane, Desert Hearts infamous master mind behind the legalities of making shiz happen. DH DJ brothers Mikey Lion and PorkChop paid a little visit to the BP camp which was quite nice. They came by to let us know that we were killing it! The Bright People's of DH were spreading the love! DH DJ Lee Reynolds rocked a TTE blond wig and DH Visionary Kristoff gave us a hell to the yeah! DH DJ and more, Marbs, got us on the map. Persep Sion was a sweet heart and a champ at the volunteer headquarters and it was a pleasure greeting people through the Red Artery with Hazmat and an absolute pleasure keeping our home away from home clean with Cartographer and the Green Team. I have to metion Wolverine and the medic team as well. There was a not so fun moment at the BP camp and the medic team came to the rescue. These guys really are rock stars and their down to earth vibe makes them even more awesome in my book!
As for Freedom Marie I was able to see my first tie dye custom made tapestry in action. I got to hang with Scott and gift him a tie dye tank for being such an awesome supporter. My first ever Mushy Tie Dye Tank found a home. Freedom Marie donated tie-dyes (made by my hubby Matt and BP rep Jason) to the Trippy Thread Exchange, which flew like hot cakes. And, I will also be making a number of new tie dyes for the Indiegogo perks which I'm excited to share with you <3

So I guess you can see now why Desert Hearts is so special to me. It really has helped to change my life. I have found a way to live my passion. To be a part of something so intensely different and beautiful. It has put people in my life who are uplifting and encourage me to chase my dreams. Desert Hearts with it's on point taste in music, enrichment of love and respect, and collaborations of passionate doers, make it truly the best festival for me.
